In travel and tourism industry, the focus on the environmentally responsible behaviour has grown dramatically over the years from hardly being talked about to has been a major concern (Gustin Weaver, 1996). Deterioration of the environment happened from the growth of the global economy, over consumption and utilization of natural resources. Everyone in the world faces great challenges from the climate changes that have occurring now dues to the human-induced greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuel combustion. From the climate changes, it can cause severe negative outcomes such as increase temperature, rising in sea levels, increased in the pollution in air and water, loss of animal and plant habitat, oceans circulation disruption, and†¦show more content†¦Thereby, protecting the environment has become a major issue in society (Krause, 1993 and Easterling, Kenworthy Nemzoff, 1996). According to Brown (1996), it is stated that it’s become an important of the environm entalism in the marketplaces as consumers are recognizing the importance of people to protect the environment. Hence, increasing number of individual committing the environmentally friendly behaviour can be led by increasing the awareness of the seriousness of the environment problem (Kalafatis, Pollard, East Tsogas, 1999). Despite of all of the concern by the customer and citizens towards the negative consequences for the environment and the changes in the practices in the hotel towards the green hotel, still we cannot see clearly in depth about the customer actual perceptions toward the problems and the changes in the industry especially hotel industry. Primary indicator of attitudes towards environmentally compatible behaviour is perceived importance of the environment which is related to the degree to which consumer express their consciousness’s of environmental issues.
